As we wrote on our Facebook Page last week, we had a very exciting meeting this Thursday. We didn’t know what to expect, and I was up all night preparing for what to say and what to do. The meeting was short, to the point and now we have two amazing bikes for our crazy journey this summer!
We approached Velorbis some weeks back and told them about our idea of biking from Copenhagen in Denmark to Rome in Italy. We proposed that they might be interested in partnering with us so that we could ride their bikes on the journey.
Last week they responded and asked if we would meet with them. They said nothing about what they thought of our idea – they just wanted to meet. We were so excited but had no idea what to expect. But of course we were hoping that they would give us two bikes for our trip…
MEETING GONE RIGHT
I had been up all night preparing for the meeting. I had made a long Power Point presentation. At 3 am I changed my mind and hated the idea of a presentation. At 4 am the presentation was a lot shorter, and I put it on my iPad as a .pdf for a more chill presentation. And it worked allright.
Velorbis thought that this was too crazy an idea for them to not be a part of – so they agreed on sponsoring two bikes for us! Oh my God…
We’ll get a Scrap Deluxe bike each. These are amazingly beautiful bikes (as all the Velorbis models). I looove the leather details, the balloon tires and just… well, look at it:
Pretty, huh? We’ll get awesome orange details on our bikes: I’ll get an orange front basket on my bike, Jonas will get an orange front carrier on his and our rims will be orange as well. It looks pretty good!
Right now they’re getting our bikes ready and we hope to pick them up next week. It’s so exciting.
SO WHAT’S THE PLAN?
On June 20th we plan on starting our crazy bike ride from central Copenhagen til Colosseum in Rome, Italy. Our planned route takes us through cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxenbourg, Paris, Lyon, Cannes, Nice, Monte-Carlo, Genova and Pisa. It’s more than 3500 km (2175 miles) to cover on bike. Shit. This is our route so far:
It looks pretty crazy. And it’s going to be! We can’t wait. And on our new Velorbis bikes it’s going to be an epic ride. We’ll be working a little on the way in order to have enough money to complete the trip.
We can’t wait to travel this slowly. It’s going to give us a rare opportunity to get some memorable experiences and really se Europe and meet the people.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
All our friends seem to think that this is really crazy. Some even think that we won’t make it. Most seem to think that the bikes are too heavy. We’ll see. We’re both very positive and are really looking forward to the experience!
If you have any advice about things we need to see on the way, please let us know in the comments below. Any advice about long distance biking and camping in Europe are highly needed. Thank you!
